Multiplication or out
Solve multiplication problems by using repeated addition.
Number Framework Stage 5
The player must then work out the total number of animals in the array.
Rules
Multiplication or Out is a game for 2-4 players.
Before playing the students should sort the animal cards into the same lengths, e.g. all
the three cards together, all the four cards together. The multiplication fact cards
should be shuffled and placed face down in a pile.
Rules
Players take turns to:
Take a fact card, e.g. 4 x 5.
Make the matching array using animal cards. The only rule is that the same
animal must be used. So 4 x 5 could be made with four five animal cards or
five four animal cards.
The player must then work out the total number of animals in the array.
Once cards are used they are taken out of play.
Play continues like this. If a player is unable to make the array for a fact they take
then they are out of the game.
The last player left in is the winner.
