Five Little Ducks
The purpose of this activity is to help students learn groupings within 5. For example 1 and 4 make 5; 3 and 2 make 5.

- Teach the students the “Five Little Ducks” rhyme.
- Role-play the rhyme using 5 students to represent the five little ducks. Start with all 5 ducks in front of the class and after each verse, as one of the ducks disappears, have one student hide near by.
- After each verse of the rhyme stop and talk about the number of ducks and clearly state the number fact:
How many ducks came back?
How many ducks are lost?
Three ducks came back and two ducks are lost. 3 and 2 make 5 ducks altogether.
