Purpose of the site:

Part of the BBC’s online educational material, the Maths File Game Show makes mathematics fun and accessible to students at levels 3 and 4 of the NZ mathematics curriculum (Key stage 3, English Curriculum).

New Zealand context:

This site provides a variety of activities suitable for independent student work, either in the classroom or at home. The online games are ideal for independent work in class to consolidate learning and apply new skills, while the corresponding print offs contain problems for students that would be ideal as part of a weekly homework programme.

New and different:

The simple presentation of the site allows teachers easy access to the materials they require and each game has three levels of difficulty allowing teachers to meet their students’ needs. The print offs provide valuable extra work for students.
