Purpose of the Site

New Zealand Context:

Two geometry activities are ideal for independent work, after introduction in a small group teaching situation. Polygon Playground provides an ideal starting point for any work on shape and symmetry. When working with Tessellation’s, after experimenting with Tessellation Town students could make their own tessellating town, each creating a different element to include.

New and Different

Tessellation Town provides a unique and innovative context for students to learn about tessellating shapes. People, flowers, animals and more, all tessellate, with information given on how to create your own tessellating shapes. 
Polygon Playground is an open-ended task, challenging students to create patterns using their knowledge of shape and symmetry.
Both activities are well presented, colourful and easy to work with.
