Using Materials

Problem: Freddo the frog makes 4 jumps from number 14. Where does Freddo end up? What is 14 + 4?

Record 14 + 4 on the board. The students track 4 jumps directly on number strips to give 18. Record 14 + 4 = 18 on the board.
