Empty number lines

Purpose: 

In this activity students focus on the order of numbers.

Specific Learning Outcomes: 

use a number line to order numbers to 100

Required Resource Materials: 
Pen and board or chart
Activity: 
  1. Draw the number line on the board.

  2. Ask:
    Where would you draw the number 70?
  3. Get the student to put a mark on the numberline
  4. Why did you put it there?
  5. Repeat with other volunteers.
  6. Repeat the discussion with other numbers.
