About Gill Thomas

Gill is managing director of Maths Technology Ltd which develops and operates the nzmaths website on contract to the Ministry of Education. The company also undertakes research and consultancy in adult numeracy, mathematics and teacher education.

Gill is currently working with the TEC’s literacy and numeracy team on a number of projects including The Adult Learning Progressions for Literacy and Numeracy, The Adult Literacy and Numeracy Assessment Tool and the Guidelines for Embedding Literacy and Numeracy.

Gill maintains her involvement in school sector mathematics as a research evaluator of the Numeracy Development Projects and as Subject Matter Expert for the Learning Federation of Australia¹s Schools Online Curriculum Content Initiative (SOCCI).

Prior to her consulting work Gill worked at the Dunedin College of Education (now the University of Otago College of Education) in a number of academic and management positions.
